35 years with chronic pain from motorcycle accident. My back was broken and L1-L5 is fused, severe cervical & lumbar spinal stenosis. I’m also always fatigued. I’ve tried Kratom several times, several kinds
(Red MD, Green Vein Thai, White Vein Borneo) up to 3 teaspoons & felt nothing. I use a teaspoon’s worth in rice paper and swallow.

Hello Bob, it’s hard to pinpoint what exactly you’re doing wrong as we’d need to know what exactly you were doing with each strain. Generally, we do not advice measuring a kratom dose in teaspoons. It is highly inaccurate and it is easy to take a different dose each time. If you’ve tried different doses with each strain, you won’t be able to know for sure what is working for you.

Firstly, are you taking only kratom? Are you taking prescription medications? Any other substances? Some substances and medicine can cancel the effects of kratom. So, we’d advise trying kratom alone.

Secondly, we’d advise starting experimenting with one strain. Since fast strains require a lower dose, White Borneo could be a good place to try. Green Thai will be more moderate and will need a higher dose but greens usually work better than whites for many beginners. Measure 1-2 grams with a sensitive digital scale. Take those and wait for 30-60 minutes. If you experience no effects, add another 0.5-1 gram and wait for 30-60 minutes. repeat that until you start feeling the desired effects. Based on your body composition per person.

Finally, have you tried different vendors or just one? Are you buying locally or online? Who is your vendor? It is possible that you’ve bought weak, old, or fake kratom that’s not working as it supposed to. Other times it could also be a weak batch from a vendor that usually sells quality products. It may be possible that the supplier does not have anything better to offer. Due to the lack of regulations, it’s not uncommon for inconsistencies in quality. Local vendors are also unreliable. We always advise going with trusted online kratom-specific vendors.

Hope this finds you well and you are able to experience the beneficial effects of kratom!

My testimony… White, Green and Red Vein… Kratom is good healthy and always safe if you stay under per serving of max amounts.. 15 grams for an adult and 4 grams for young adults and 1 or 2 grams for children ages 8 to 15 and .5 gram for age 4 to 7. For every 3 or 4 days of use, take 1 day off and see how you feel. I used Kratom for over 2 years consecutively and have taken 16 grams twice a day so 32 grams max with no issues. I can stop at anytime with zero addiction. I’ve stopped for 3 weeks to 1 month with zero craving for the Kratom. No problems or desire. Starbucks is actually more addicitive in my opinion. I use it for pain and ptsd after the military for my disability injuries. Its so safe I give it to my kids occasionally when they are sluggish or seem stressed and it helps them. Kratom has a unique effect that can also fix whatever your issue is temporary and or permanently. Start slow and work your way up gradually to feel which amount servings is best for you. The plant is not a miracle plant though but works unique in its own way. Medicine for pain relief is still stronger and I would say this stuff maybe is equal to 220mg of Alleve or Naproxene but with no side effects. Make sure you drink 64oz to 100oz of water daily too. I’m very impressed with this herb just don’t abuse it and be stupid like young adults did when Ma Huang was out on market and they would pop 20 pills and drink 5 red bulls before competing in their sporting events. It’s just dumb to do that! Respect the herbs and the herbs will take care of you because they are same as foods. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Joel.

We absolutely agree that one needs to be responsible, but, then again, that’s true for not just kratom.

Sorry to hear that. We’d advise trying out greens, such as Green Maeng Da or Green Malay if you are new to kratom and, if they do not provide enough energy, supplementing them with whites. Let us know how you feel.

Is it your experience that pain management practices test for Kratom usage?
These days most practices test regularly for many different types of opiates, THC, cocaine, alcohol, barbiturates etc. …….

Hello Linden, do you mean drug tests, such as workplace drug tests and whether they test or not? We actually have a blog post covering that. Type “kratom drug test” in the search box. In short, kratom is not an opiate, so most tests, especially basic ones won’t test for kratom. However, some may, especially if kratom is illegal in your state/city/county. We’d find out what test it is and what exactly it covers. If you are unsure, eliminating kratom about a week prior to the test would pretty much eliminate the traces of it from your system.

I just started using different strains of kratom for opiate withdrawal and chronic pain and fatigue.. it has done wonders for me, but there are days where it just doesn’t work at all and I feel horrible for the day.. any suggestions for what I need to do? I take 8-10 grams 3 times a day.. I’ve used reds, whites and greens.

Hello. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to give a definite answer without knowing more details. We would advise keeping a notebook or document where you log your kratom intake (strains, dosage, and batch/vendor) along with other factors, such as food, other medications or substances that you take, periods if you are a woman, and other details. This can help you pinpoint what’s interfering with your kratom doses.

Also, make sure to purchase from a quality vendor, who sells consistent quality kratom. With some vendors it’s hit and miss, sometimes they will simply have poorer quality kratom in stock.
