Kratom for ADHD: Does It Work?

While data indicates that only 2 to 5% of adults globally are affected by ADHD, studies suggest that numbers are likely to be higher. Many adults are undiagnosed and not treated or misdiagnosed and treated incorrectly. Therefore, if you have been diagnosed with or believe you may have ADHD and are considering taking kratom for ADHD, below, we’ve compiled the information that you should know.

    What Is ADHD?

ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a medical condition that affects children and teenagers, but can also extend into adulthood.

People affected by ADHD are highly active, have a hard time staying still, and have limited attention spans. There are three types of ADHD:

    • inattentive type (also known as ADD),
    • hyperactive and impulsive type, and
    • combination type.

It is currently unclear what causes ADHD. However, scientists speculate that causes may be primarily genetic or developmental.

Three out of every four children with ADHD are related t someone with ADHD. Other potential causes are premature birth and brain injury. The mother smoking, consuming alcohol, or having a lot of stress during pregnancy can also potentially cause the disorder.

According to current studies, the prevalence of ADHD in adults seems to decline with age.

What Are the Symptoms of ADHD?

The symptom of ADHD will depend on its type.

    People of the inattentive type:

    • have a hard time maintaining attention,
    • struggle when listening and following instructions,
    • have difficulty with tasks that need sustained focus,
    • cannot effectively organize tasks or manage their time,
    • may forget daily tasks such as chores, appointments, and returning phone calls,
    • make careless mistakes,
    • are easily distracted,
    • are forgetful, and
    • easily lose things.

Meanwhile, people of the hyperactive and impulsive type:

    • are restless,
    • cannot stay still,
    • find quiet activities challenging,
    • talk excessively,
    • blurt out answers before even a question is finished,
    • interrupt others,
    • have a hard time taking turns or standing in line,
    • fidget, and
    • take over what others are doing.

The combination type can manifest any of the symptoms pertaining to the two types above.

As people age, their symptoms can change, making ADHD even harder to diagnose. Common symptoms among adults can also be:

    • anxiety,
    • depression,
    • chronic boredom,
    • disorganization,
    • procrastination,
    • anger issues,
    • problems at work,
    • relationship issues,
    • disorganization,
    • mood swings,
    • low self-esteem.

    Why Is ADHD a Problem?

It’s estimated that ADHD affects approximately 8.4% of children and 2.5% of adults. However, the actual numbers may be much higher.

There are no lab tests, MRI, PET or CT scans that can diagnose the disorder. Instead, a mental health professional makes a diagnosis based on an interview and observation.

If a person displays at least six (five for adults) of the ADHD symptoms since before the age of 7 for a minimum of six months in at least two settings (home and work/studies), they receive the AHDH diagnosis.

When it comes to adults, ADHD is frequently undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. If left untreated, it can cause the adult to engage in risky and dangerous behaviors such as substance abuse, risky sexual behaviors, dangerous driving, speeding, and more. It can cause problems at work and negatively affect friendships and romantic relationships.

Some common ADHD medications can also have negative side effects. They may affect people’s behavior, health, and mental state.

While medical sources state that ADHD drugs aren’t addictive when used as prescribed, they do, nonetheless, state that they can be habit-forming which is basically a term that means the same but has a less negative connotation. Many also take them to enhance their performance and, thus, can fake the disorder.

    Common ADHD Treatment Methods

If diagnosed, ADHD is treated with prescription drugs. Depending on the type of ADHD, those could either be a stimulant or non-stimulant drugs.

Stimulant drugs include Adderall, Ritalin, Focalin, Metadate, Concerta, Dexedrine, and Vyvanse. Non-stimulants can be Tenex, Strattera, Kapvay, and Intuniv.

Can You Use Kratom for ADHD?

While scientists still do not know what causes ADHD, they have, however, found a correlation between low serotonin and low dopamine levels and ADHD.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps us control our motivation, movement, as well as affects our memory and focus. In the meantime, serotonin helps us regulate mood, emotions, social behavior, sleep, and appetite.

As kratom alkaloids bind with opioid receptors, that signals your body to release more dopamine. In addition to that, mitragynine in kratom activates serotonogenic pathways. These qualities can provide beneficial effects for those who struggle with ADHD.

Kratom does not only relieve the same symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also a natural substance. Its side effects are less disruptive than those of prescription ADHD drugs. They are easily preventable and curable with proper kratom use.

  • Kratom for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Does It Work?

Kratom for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Does It Work?

We all know what it’s like to be tired if we have too much on our plates and don’t get an adequate amount of sleep. However, for some people, this tiredness never goes away.

This condition is called chronic fatigue syndrome, and it’s actually more common than many think. Let’s look into what it, and if you believe you may have it, how kratom could help.

    What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a complex chronic health disorder. Its most prominent characteristics are extreme fatigue, which lasts longer than six months. This unpleasant condition can’t be explained in full detail, and neither can be its underlying cause or medical condition.

    Chronic Fatigue Symptoms

Chronic fatigue has a wide range of symptoms. These can come and go or persist all the time. The combination of symptoms may vary from one person to another, and so can the intensity.

    The most common symptoms include:

    • Extreme fatigue that worsens and persists for longer than 24 hours after physical or mental exercise,
    • Having sleep issues and not feeling refreshed even after having slept enough time,
    • Difficulty concentrating as well as maintaining attention and memorizing,
    • Feeling dizzy upon standing up or sitting up,
    • Muscle pain,
    • Joint pain, often accompanied by redness or swelling,
    • Headaches that are different in terms of pattern, intensity, or type from what a person usually experiences,
    • Continuous or frequent sore throat
    • Tender lymph nodes under the arms and in the neck.

While these are rather common, there is a range of symptoms that are less frequent, yet may still occur. These include:

    • Blurring, light sensitivity, pain in the eyes, blurring, and other vision issues,
    • Night sweats and chills,
    • Irritable bowels,
    • Either low body temperature or low-grade fever,
    • Allergies or sensitivities,
    • Burning, tingling, or numbness in the hands, feet, or face,
    • Irritability, anxiety, panic attacks, anxiety, mood swings, or other psychological changes.

These symptoms may not be obvious to others. Therefore, a person with chronic fatigue may seem normal and healthy to others, and it may be hard for friends, family, and colleagues to emphasize what they are going through.

Chronic fatigue is not only unpleasant and debilitating, but can also lead to other issues such as depression, social isolation, frequent work absences, and lifestyle limitations or restrictions.

    What Causes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

There is no definite answer to what causes the condition. Possible causes include prior viral infections, chronic stress, physical or emotional trauma, hormonal imbalances, and immune system disorders.

    Common Chronic Fatigue Treatment Methods

Since we do not know what the cause of chronic fatigue is, a cure for it currently does not exists. Therefore treatment methods focus on managing the symptoms.

There is also no test to confirm that one has chronic fatigue. Symptoms may often mimic other health conditions, and people with this disorder may also suffer from other chronic health disorders. These can be various sleep disorders, IBSanxietydepression, and fibromyalgia.

Treatment may involve a combination of medication as well as therapy.

Medication can be either prescription or over the counter. Some of the most commonly prescribed ones include:

    • People with long-term chronic fatigue tend to also have moderate to severe depression. Antidepressants are prescribed to improve a person’s ability to cope with chronic fatigue symptoms as well as can help get better sleep and better manage pain.
    • Pain medication. Since it is common to experience muscle and joint pain and conditions like fibromyalgia may go hand in hand with chronic fatigue, pain relief medication like over-the-counter ibuprofen and prescription drugs like pregabalin and gabapentin may be used.
    • Blood pressure and heart rhythm medication. These can aid people who become nauseated and feel like they will faint when sitting or standing up.

As a means of therapy, people with chronic fatigue may be recommended:

    • This can help cope with additional stress, depression, and limitations that occur due to the chronic condition.
    • While intense and aggressive exercise can worsen chronic fatigue symptoms and should be avoided, light impact and low-intensity exercise can help improve the mood and prevent reconditioning, which may result from decreased physical activity level.
    • Lifestyle changes to improve sleep. A doctor may advise a variety of practices and lifestyle changes to improve sleep hygiene and quality. These may include bedtime routine, lower caffeine intake, set bedtime, reduced use of technology before bedtime, and more. If the case of disorders like sleep apnea, a breathing machine can be helpful.

    Can Kratom Relieve Chronic Fatigue?

Due to its wide range of beneficial alkaloids and effects, kratom can help manage chronic fatigue and improve the quality of life. Users report Mitragyna speciosa being more effective than various chronic fatigue drugs. Moreover, the effects of kratom are so diverse that a person can use it instead of various medications.

The herb can help in the following ways:

    1. Provide Energy throughout the Day

Green and white kratom strains have effects that are similar to caffeine. Therefore, they can help one stay alert and energetic without needing an extra cup of coffee.

While both greens and whites can be beneficial, greens may be a more suitable starting point for less experienced users and people who also suffer from depression.

Green vein kratom for chronic fatigue can also be more effective if one suffers from pain. That’s because greens have stronger pain-relieving properties.

    2. Improve Focus and Concentration

While coffee can make one jittery and agitated in larger doses, making focusing and concentration harder, kratom, especially green vein strains, can be extremely helpful in improving focus and concentration as well as productivity. Greens create a calm focus, which, in combination with increased energy, can help you get more tasks done.

    3. Improve the Mood

One of the beneficial effects of kratom is euphoria, which all strains can provide to a greater or lesser degree. A better mood can help you manage chronic fatigue symptoms much more effectively.

    4. Relieve Anxiety and Stress

Greens and reds have soothing and relaxing abilities, which can ease stress and anxiety. Moreover, these types of kratom for chronic fatigue can also help control intrusive thoughts and relieve social anxiety.

    5. Help Manage Depression

Greens can be beneficial in managing depression symptoms. They not only provide additional energy but also boost the mood and help deal with racing negative thoughts.

    6. Improve Sleep

While reds have relaxing and sedating properties and can help sleep through the night as well as alleviate conditions like restless leg syndrome or fibromyalgia, greens can also improve sleep.

In a counterintuitive way, they can help stay awake and alert throughout the day and be tired enough just in time to go to bed.

    7. Relieve Pain

Reds have the most potent pain-relieving properties and can be beneficial throughout the night. While greens are milder, they still can provide potent pain relief that can ease one’s tasks and activities throughout the day, making day-to-day life more pleasurable.

Which Type of Kratom for Chronic Fatigue is Best?

Due to its moderate and balanced properties, green vein Mitragyna speciosa is typically the most suitable type of kratom for chronic fatigue. It offers moderate energizing effects combined with relaxation and pain relief.

These properties can help one stay alert, energetic, and focused, yet also ease stress, anxiety, and pain.

Precautions When Buying and Taking Kratom for Chronic Fatigue

Since people with chronic fatigue tend to experience other health issues in addition to the condition, it is extremely important to only buy fresh, consistent, and high-quality kratom that is properly lab-tested and pure. Contaminants, adulterants, and other pathogens could be extremely damaging to an already weakened immune system.

Moreover, one needs to be very consistent and precise with their dosage. Exceeding doses can lead to experiencing jitters, nausea, and vomiting, which could be especially unpleasant and even harmful if added to the typical chronic fatigue symptoms.

Having kratom that is consistent rather than fluctuates in quality can also help one maintain consistent doses and keep tolerance low. Buying cheap kratom can result in getting stronger kratom one time and weaker kratom another. Such fluctuations in potency can lead to overdosing, experiencing kratom side effects, as well as increasing tolerance and burning money.

Do you suffer from chronic fatigue? How long have you had it, and what have you been taking or doing to manage it? Have you tried kratom for chronic fatigue syndrome? If so, what was your experience like?

  • Is Taking CBD and Kratom Together a Good Idea?

Is Taking CBD and Kratom Together a Good Idea?

CBD and kratom both have many positive properties and effects. So, you may be wondering if it is possible to use a CBD kratom combination for even stronger effects.

What Is the CBD Kratom Difference?

While both provide potent analgesic and other effects, there are several differences between kratom and CBD.

First of all, they come from different plants. Kratom comes from a Mitragyna speciosa tree native to tropical jungles of Southeast Asia whereas most CBD on the market comes from hemp that grows in moderate climates such as the US, Europe, and China.

Kratom is a raw powder from dried kratom leaves while CBD is an oil that is extracted from the plant material through a variety of methods.

CBD and kratom both strong potent natural pain relief. However, the former has more recognition and acceptance from the public while the latter continuously faces much criticism and frequently gets inaccurate exposure in the news.

As a result, kratom legality is more limited. While it is legal in most locations across the US, there is a kratom ban in a number of states, cities, and counties. Because of that, CBD can serve as an alternative to kratom is locations that ban it.

    Nonetheless,…

Can You Use a CBD Kratom Combination?

A CBD kratom combination can provide potent relief from chronic and other pain for those who are willing to transition from conventional pain medication. They can also complement each other’s effects.

While both relieve pain, CBD also reduces inflammation, which can contribute to relieving pain. In addition to that, CBD provides musculoskeletal and joint pain relief. Therefore, a CBD kratom mix can be very beneficial in certain situations and conditions, such as:

    • joint and muscle pain,
    • neck, back and knee pain,
    • injuries,
    • post-surgery pain relief,
    • fibromyalgia,
    • endometriosis,
    • IBS,
    • stress, depression, and anxiety relief,
    • fatigue,
    • and more.

Nonetheless, due to the controversial CBD kratom nature, medical studies on both are still limited. Therefore, there is likely much that we do not know yet.

Both substances relieve pain in different ways. Because of that, a CBD kratom combination can complement each other’s effects in terms of duration and onset.

Kratom provides instant relief whereas CBD needs to be taken regularly so that the body’s endocannabinoid system gets accustomed to it. So, kratom can help when immediate, potent pain relief is necessary. Meanwhile, CBD can ensure that pain relief is continuous.

CBD can also be an effective alternative or addition to kratom pain relief in public settings. Making kratom tea in public can be challenging and looked down on, yet kratom capsules may not suit everyone.

In the meantime, CBD comes in small bottles, and there are different edibles with CBD in them. Therefore, it can be much easier to remain discreet.

In addition to external use, companies also produce creams, balms, and other topical products that can help relieve pain and work in combination with kratom.

    CBD as Alternative to Kratom

CBD can also be useful in instances when you may need to take a break from kratom without going through a painful time. This can happen, for example, if you need to lower your tolerance or travel to a location that bans kratom.

    Kratom and Cannabis

A number of kratom users also complement their daily kratom dose with medical marijuana. They either smoke or vape it.

Cannabis and CBD are not the same. Both contain cannabinoids. Yet, most CBD is an extract made from hemp while medical marijuana is a whole dried cannabis plant. Therefore, CDB contains very low levels of THC, the compound with psychoactive properties, in comparison with medical marijuana. This is why the latter is not legal in all states.

Some kratom enthusiasts refer to the process of combining kratom and cannabis as KFC: kratom, food, cannabis. They take their kratom dose followed by some food and smoking or vaping cannabis.

Keep in mind that kratom and cannabis don’t work in the same way. Cannabis needs to be heated to activate THC and other cannabinoids in it. The process is called decarboxylation, and it potentiates the effects of medical marijuana. That’s why users smoke and vape it.

Kratom, however, does not need to be heated. Therefore, smoking or vaping kratom isn’t a good idea. It’s more likely to burn most of the kratom and waste your money.

Combining CBD and Kratom May Not Work for Everyone

Since both are natural substances, they may interact differently with people’s individual bodies. While the CBD kratom combo can be excellent for some, it may not work for everyone. Thus, you may need to try it out yourself to see if it works for you.

Finally, be cautious if you are taking any prescription medication as some may interfere with your CBD kratom dose.

Have you ever tried the CBD kratom combo? Or perhaps kratom and cannabis? Would you recommend it to others? Let us know.

In addition to that, we accept kratom stories. If kratom has changed your like, please share your kratom story with us so that more people benefit from it.

  • Kratom Headache: Causes and Methods for Relief

Kratom Headache: Causes and Methods for Relief

Kratom is a herb that many take to relieve different aches and pains. Yet, quite a few also acknowledge feeling headaches after kratom. Some even refer to them as kratom migraines.

Kratom is extremely beneficial. Yet, one can also experience kratom side effects such as dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and kratom hangover. Kratom headaches are one of the side effects that you may experience after taking this beneficial herb.

    Does Kratom Cause Headache?

While it won’t happen to everyone, kratom headache can happen. Sometimes they may be related to how your body responds to the alkaloids in kratom. Yet, it’s not always the case.

    What Causes Kratom Headache

There can be several reasons for kratom headaches. See which one may apply to you.

    Dehydration

Kratom is diuretic, which means that it expels liquids from the body. This frequently results in constipation. Many users have also reported feeling a kratom headache if they do not drink enough water. They also noted that their headache gradually passed if they upped their water intake.

    High Dosage

If you have taken a bit too much kratom, that too can cause your head to ache. If you have recently increased your kratom dosage, tried a new strain, or a vendor you’ve never bought kratom from before, chances are that your dose is too high.

    Tension

Some users noticed that they experienced headaches due to tension. Once they worked on releasing that tension, the headaches would subside. Others observed that they would tense certain body parts after taking fast strains. That too caused them to have kratom headache.

    Sensitivity to Caffeine

Since kratom and coffee are from the same family, you have a higher likelihood of having a headache after taking kratom if you tend to get headaches after drinking coffee, too.

When you take caffeine, it narrows the blood vessels around your brain. The term for it is vasoconstriction. Once the effects start wearing off, these blood vessels expand again, and that can result in a headache.

Some kratom alkaloids have vasoconstrictive properties. Therefore, strains that have a higher concentration of these alkaloids can cause kratom headache. Similarly to coffee, these strains are normally ones with stimulating effects.

Similarly to how it occurs with coffee, you may also experience kratom withdrawal if you abruptly stop taking it.

    Predisposition to Headaches

If you are prone to having headaches or migraines, your chances of getting a kratom headache are higher, too. That’s because your brain may be slightly different from the brains of those who do not suffer from migraines.

Studies show that people with a tendency to suffer from migraines have a thinner outer layer of the brain in areas responsible for pain. Therefore, you may be more susceptible to the changes in blood vessels in your brain after you take kratom.

Which Strains Are More Likely to Cause Kratom Headache?

Most kratom users who experience kratom headache, identify fast strains as the main ones causing it. Some of the strains are:

Nonetheless, the sensitivity to different strains can vary by person. Some have stated that they experience kratom headache after taking Red Bali Kratom, while others may be sensitive to any strain they take.

    Kratom Headache Relief

    1. Drink More Water

The easiest and most frequently recommended kratom headache relief is drinking more water. Even if you already drink plenty, increasing your daily water intake can help. A good practice is also drinking an extra glass of water for every coffee cup that you take.

    2. Swap Caffeinated Beverages with Water

Even if you don’t drink coffee, there are other ways in which you may be consuming caffeine. Drinks such as tea, soda, and coke contain caffeine, too. Caffeinated beverages can dehydrate you.

If you love to indulge in some chocolate on a daily basis, that also can be an additional source of caffeine.

To reduce your caffeine intake, swap caffeinated drinks with water. If you cannot give up coffee and chocolate, make sure you drink extra water.

    3. Sleep and Practice Relaxation Techniques

People who suffer from migraines often have specific triggers that set it off. While your specific triggers can be different, frequently migraines happen if you have had a lack of sleep, or have felt anxious or depressed.

So, make sure to get more sleep and find ways to relax. These can be having a hot bath, taking a walk, listening to music, doing yoga, and more. Try a few that resonate with you most and see that provides kratom headache relief.

If you do not know what your specific triggers are, there is a way to identify that. You can do so by keeping a diary. Whenever you experience a debilitating headache or migraine, write doing the specific of the day such as what you did, what you ate, how you felt, and what caused you to feel this way. Also, note down what strains you took and how large your dose was.

Over time you’ll notice patterns which will then be your triggers.

    4. Lower Your Kratom Dose

The potency of the kratom powder that you buy can vary from batch to batch. That’s because different factors such as the amount of rain and sunshine, harvesting time, and others can affect the alkaloid content in the leaves.

While some kratom vendors strive to provide consistency and changes in the potency of individual batches are virtually undetectable, other vendors don’t do that. So, it may be possible to take a dose that’s too strong if you have just opened a new batch.

Potency can also vary from strain to strain and from vendor to vendor. We’ve experienced cases when some vendors’ kratom powder was so strong that we had to take only a half of our usual dose.

So, try lowering your dose and see if any changes occur. It may take a few times to readjust your kratom dosage and achieve kratom headache relief.

    5. Try Different Strains

It is possible that you are sensitive to a specific strain. For instance, some people become jittery and agitated after taking fast strains in the same way that one would feel after drinking too much coffee.

Therefore, try a few different strains and observe how you feel after taking them. For instance, if you are looking for stimulating effects choose Green Maeng Da Kratom instead of White Maeng Da due to its milder effects.

Some kratom vendors offer free samples or starter packages. A few vendors also add free samples to each order. Some may even choose specific strains for each buyer based on what they have ordered before. This is a great way to try new strains without making the commitment of buying a larger bulk.

  • Kratom Capsules: The Pros and Cons

Kratom Capsules: The Pros and Cons

There are multiple ways of taking kratom such as kratom tea, Toss & Wash method, and mixing kratom with juice, yogurt, smoothies or protein shakes.

There are even some less common ways of using kratom. These can be kratom soap, kratom baths, kratom salve, and body butter, or even kratom essential oil.

However, when it comes to ingesting kratom, there are users who give preference to kratom capsules.

    Pros of Taking Kratom Capsules

    1. You Don’t Taste the Kratom

When you do your research on the taste of kratom, you’ll find lots of negative adjectives. Many describe kratom as bitter or even awful, disgusting or pungent.

We’ve tried kratom from quite a few brands out there. And, from personal experience, we know it’s not always like that. There are vendors whose kratom doesn’t taste bad at all. However, not every vendor and not all kratom is the same.

If you absolutely dislike the taste of kratom, then kratom capsules can be a solution to that. Since they create a barrier between kratom and your taste buds, you don’t taste it at all.

    2. No Mess (or Loss) Taking Your Kratom Dose

Have you ever spilled kratom when making kratom tea? Or when transferring it from a bad to a container for storage. I’m sure you have at least once. It makes a mess. And it’s always a shame to waste even a tiny bit of the beneficial powder.

With kratom capsules, there are no spills, and therefore no mess and no waste.

    3. You Can Save Time when Taking Kratom

Preparing kratom usually takes time. You need to measure it properly and mix it with the liquid of your choice.

If you make kratom tea, you also need to factor in the time needed for the water to boil and for the tea to simmer. The whole process can easily take up at least 20-30 minutes of your time.

In contrast, taking kratom capsules is straightforward and easy. You simply need to count the right number of capsules, swallow them and drink some water.

    4. Kratom Capsules Are Easier to Swallow

While there are people who have a hard time swallowing pills, according to a number of users, kratom capsules can be easier to swallow than kratom powder.

If your method of choice is Toss & Wash, it can be really fast but only if you do it right. Otherwise, it can make you gag or some of the powder may stick to your throat. You may even cough up some powder.

With kratom capsules though, you don’t have direct contact with the powder. This can make the swallowing process easier.

    5. Kratom Capsules Are Easy to Transport

If you plan to take kratom while you travel, go on a hike, or are on the road for any reason, this can be quite problematic. Kratom capsules, however, are convenient to transport and take if you’re not in your regular environment.

    6. Kratom Capsules Make Measuring Your Kratom Dose Easier

When taking kratom, you need to be making sure that you’re taking the right dose. To do that, you need to measure it every time you take kratom. If you simply eye your dose, you can end up experiencing kratom side effects.

    7. Kratom Capsules May Be Easier to Store

You need to store kratom properly in order for it to retain its freshness and beneficial properties. After you purchase kratom, you should store in airtight containers away from heat, light, and moisture. Even too much air, such as opening the container often or leaving a small amount of kratom in a big container, can affect the quality of the product.

This requires you to spend some time and effort storing your kratom powder properly. With capsules, it’s much easier. The powder is already inside airtight containers and you do not need to do any extra work.

    Cons of Taking Kratom Capsules

    1. Limited Availability

Any kratom vendor sells kratom powder. Yet, it’s not the same with kratom capsules. Not all vendors sell them. This means that even if you have a favorite brand that you trust, you may need to seek a new one if you would like to take kratom capsules.

Another problem is that not all strains are available in capsule form. So, chances are that you won’t be able to find your favorite strain sold in capsules.

    2. Higher Price

Kratom capsules require more time, manpower and resources to be produced. As a result, they are more expensive than kratom powder.

    3. Kratom Capsules May Irritate Your Stomach

Most kratom capsules are made of gelatin. Since you likely will take several capsules, the amount of gelatin that you ingest may irritate your stomach. Gelatin absorbs water and expands in the stomach. In some cases, this may cause heaviness in the stomach, bloating, heartburn, and cramps.

Some people may even be allergic to gelatin.

An alternative is vegetarian capsules, but they are less frequently available than gelatin ones.

    4. Kratom Capsules May Be Inconvenient for Larger Doses

If you prefer to take kratom for stress or pain relief, insomnia or to wind down and relax, you will need a larger dose. That means more capsules or at least, larger ones.

A large number of small capsules will contain a large amount of gelatin which may upset your stomach. Larger capsules may be hard to swallow.

Humans, in general, aren’t designed to swallow solid objects. Therefore, large kratom capsules may trigger your gag reflex and turn kratom intake into an unpleasant experience.

    5. Kratom Capsules Take Longer to Kick In

Before your stomach is able to digest kratom, it needs to break down the capsule coating. This slows down the onset of kratom, slow down its release and, according to users, may weaken the effects of kratom altogether.

    6. Capsules Can Contain Unwanted Substances

Regardless of what capsules are made of, they may contain additives such as preservatives. Sometimes these can be harmful. While this may not affect you right away, harmful substances can accumulate in your body over time and negatively affect your health.

    7. Kratom Capsules Make Your Kidneys and Liver Work Harder

Your liver and kidneys will need to work extra to digest and excrete the coating of the capsules. Especially if you take more capsules.

Without a proper, balanced diet, too much gelatin can also be harmful to the liver and kidneys. Because of that, people with kidney and liver issues should avoid taking gelatin capsules.

  • Best Strains of Kratom for Back Pain Relief

Best Strains of Kratom for Back Pain Relief

Back pain can significantly decrease one’s quality and satisfaction of life. If you struggle with it, you’re far from being alone. In fact, you’re in pretty good company.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons why people go to their doctor or miss work. Recent studies have revealed that almost 40 million Americans suffer from lower back pain.

That makes up more than a quarter of all workforce. However, researchers speculate that the number can be much higher because many either do not seek medical help or do not attribute their back pain to work.

Moreover, this research focused on lower back pain only, which isn’t the only area of the back where people experience pain. Because of that, the number of people whose lives are negatively impacted by kratom may be a lot larger.

    Causes of Back Pain

People experience back pain due to the way muscles, disks, joints, and nerves fit together or move.  It includes upper back pain, middle back pain, lower back pain. Yet, lower back pain can be the most bothersome and dangerous because the vertebrae in it are semi-fused together and it’s the least flexible part of the spine.

Some of the most common causes of back pain are:

    • injuries and accidents – falls, car accidents and similar can cause back pain. These can be especially serious if one suffers from osteoporosis and their bones are weakened;
    • strains and sprains – damaging the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that support the spine can also result in back pain. This can happen in accidents, while doing sports, or incorrectly and repeatedly lifting heavy objects;
    • sciatica – it’s caused by an issue with the sciatic nerve, a pair of long nerves that run from your lower back to the back of your legs. It can cause pain in the lower back as well as the leg, hip, and buttocks;
    • bulging discs – it’s usually caused by injury or wear and tear. The soft tissue between your discs bulges out and presses on the spinal nerves causing pain;
    • herniated discs – a more advanced version of bulging disks, it happens when the soft tissue between the discs slips out and causes discs to rub against each other;
    • degenerative disk disease – this usually affects older individuals when the soft tissue between their bones wears off and causes the disks to rub against each other;
    • spinal stenosis – it’s a condition when the spinal canal is narrower than it should be. This causes pressure on the nerves and the spine resulting in pain;
    • arthritis – joint inflammation that usually happens at an older age of from much wear and tear;
    • and more.

Your Lifestyle Can Cause Lower Back Too

Certain lifestyle choices and habits can also cause or aggravate back pain. These are:

    • smoking – it can damage the tissues in the back, weaken the bones, and reduce the flow of nutrients to the spine and hips. Studies show that smoking can even cause chronic back pain;
    • excess weight – it places additional strain on the spine;
    • lack of exercise – weaker muscles provide less support to the spine;
    • slouching while sitting down – doing so repeatedly weakens the core muscles and does not provide the support that the spine needs;
    • lifting heavy objects – especially if you tend to round your back while doing so or twist while you lift;
    • wearing high heels – it misaligns the pelvis causing the curve of the spine to change,
    • emotional state – if you experience lots of stress on a daily basis that too can manifest as back pain, especially in the upper back. Anxiety and depression can also make an impression that your pain is more severe.

Common Approaches to Back Pain Management

The most common back pain treatment methods are pain killers and pain medication. Depending on the condition, people who suffer from back pain may be also prescribed muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other medication.

People also opt for physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage, laser therapy, biofeedback therapy, and other non-pharmaceutical and non-surgical ways of treatment.

Why Use Kratom for Back Pain Relief

For centuries, kratom has been known for its pain relieving properties in the regions where it is indigenous to. In the mid-20th century, it even got banned in Thailand because it was so effective in managing pain without complications that it was interfering with opioid trade. And the taxes on the latter were profitable to the Thai government at the time.

Nowadays, millions of people across the United States resort to kratom for pain relief and other conditions. Many admit that kratom has saved their lives and helped them get off of opioids that are frequently prescribed to deal with pain.

Best Strains for Kratom Back Pain Relief

Not all strains of kratom are the same. Some a more energizing while others are more soothing and relaxing.

Generally, red vein strains are renowned for their potent pain-relieving effects. However, they tend to be relaxing and sedating. This may not work well if you have a long day of work ahead. So, the strain that will best suit your needs will depend on a variety of factors.

If you are looking for strains to take in the more energizing ones could be more appropriate. Meanwhile, in the evening you may want to take soothing strains to help you fall asleep.

Therefore we’ve put together some of our and kratom community’s favorite strains of kratom for back pain.

    In Conclusion

Kratom for back pain can be extremely effective, yet you need to keep an eye on your dosage. If you have persistent back pain and are willing to wean off of traditional medication, you may want to take an additional dose. Yet it’s easy to develop kratom tolerance if you are not careful.

To avoid it, rotate strains and do not exceed your kratom dosage. Doing so will allow you to reap the benefits of kratom for back pain without needing to worry about tolerance.

Are you suffering from back pain? What caused it? Which strain or strains are you taking to manage your pain?

  • Best Way to Take Kratom: Powder, Capsules, or Extract?

Best Way to Take Kratom: Powder, Capsules, or Extract?

Kratom is a plant native to Southeast Asia. Before reaching the western countries, it was a part of the indigenous Southeast Asian culture for thousands of years. Kratom was even considered a folk medicine used as a stimulant.

Rural workers and peasants in Thailand and other countries chewed kratom leaves during hard and monotonous working days. It helped them stay alert and maintain a good mood.

Nowadays, the popularity of kratom in the west is growing. Even despite the FDA’s claims that it’s a dangerous drug.

Users choose it for pain, anxiety, and stress relief, as well as means of boosting their mood.

Kratom is available in powder form, capsules, as well as extract. Which one is the best way to take kratom? And which should you buy? Let’s take a look.

    Kratom Powder

Kratom powder is made by finely grinding dried kratom leaves. Farmers and harvesters pick kratom leaves and dry them either indoors or outdoors. The exact processing method depends on the kratom vein type.

    The Advantages of Kratom Powder

It’s the most widely available form that kratom comes in. You’ll likely be able to easily find your favorite vein type and strand.

In addition, the body can assimilate it quickly. As a result, you can experience its effects much faster than after taking kratom capsules. The onset of the results is also going to be more intense, and you will likely be able to feel when the kratom “kick in”.

Since manufacturers only need to pack kratom powder, it’s cheaper than kratom capsules or extract.

There are multiple ways in which you can take kratom powder. You can make kratom tea, or you mix it with water, juice, yogurt, smoothies, or even applesauce.

Is it the best way to take kratom, though? Let’s look at the disadvantages.

    The Disadvantages of Kratom Powder

The downside of taking kratom powder is that it tends to have a bitter taste and a specific smell. If you’ve ever tried matcha, it tastes like very strong matcha. Or strong over-steeped green tea. While there are people who don’t mind or even like it, many describe it as “horrible”, “disgusting”, or even “pungent”.

However, not every kratom powder is the same. Depending on the vendor, some powders will be more bitter while others will be a lot more tolerable and wouldn’t taste nearly as bad.

There are vendors who have selected kratom powders that do not taste bad at all.

While swallowing kratom powder, it can stick to the tongue or throat, having you feel the bitter taste for longer. Or you may simply not feel comfortable swallowing it.

Kratom powder needs to be measured and prepared before taking it. That makes it more difficult to use if you need to transport it, for instance, to work, gym, or if you are spending time outdoors. The easiest method is Toss’n’Wash, but even then, you need to measure your dose.

Another minus is that you need to measure and move it carefully. Or you risk spilling the fine powder everywhere. You’ll not only waste some of the product but will also need to clean it up later.

    Bowl of Kratom Capsules

    Kratom Capsules

Because of kratom’s peculiar taste and the need for preparation, people have sought easier ways of taking it. Therefore, a number of vendors offer kratom capsules in addition to the standard powder.

Kratom capsules come in 5 different sizes:

    • Size 000 –  each capsule contains 1 gram of kratom
    • Size 00 – each capsule contains 0.735 grams of kratom
    • Size 0 – each capsule contains 0.5 grams of kratom
    • Size 1 – each capsule contains 0.4 grams of kratom
    • Size 2 – each capsule contains 0.3 grams of kratom

    The Advantages of Kratom Capsules

First of all, kratom capsules are much more convenient to use than kratom powder. It’s easier to measure your dose if you know exactly how much kratom goes into each capsule. You also will not be making a mess as you would with preparing kratom powder.

Kratom capsules are much more convenient to transport. You can easily take them to work, on your day out and around the city, a hike, a holiday, and similar.

Since kratom capsules are much easier to swallow and there’s a barrier between the powder and your taste buds, you won’t actually taste the kratom. This can be helpful if you do not like it’s taste or the smell bothers you.

    The Disadvantages of Kratom Capsules

Kratom capsules are more expensive than powder. It takes extra time, resources, and manpower to create them, which results in a price increase. Also, not many manufacturers produce them.

Not every vendor will offer kratom capsules. Or they may not have every single kratom variety in capsule form. Likely, only the most popular strains. So, even if your go-to vendor has your favorite type of kratom, they may not necessarily have it available in capsules.

Since the powder is coated in the capsules, it takes it longer for the body to break them down and absorb. Because of that, it’ll take longer for you to start experiencing the results and the onset may also be much slower. Some users also report that they don’t feel the results at the same intensity.

Most capsules are made of gelatin. If you are taking a larger dose of kratom, then the amount gelatin and any other additives that the coating is made of may upset your stomach.

The coating may also contain chemicals you may not be aware of, such as substances you may be allergic to. To avoid that, purchase kratom capsules only from vendors whom you trust.

Depending on the material of the coating, kratom capsules may not be suitable for vegetarians or vegans. However, if you are one, you can also purchase kratom powder and make your own capsules at home using vegetarian or cellulose-based coating. It will also be much cheaper than buying ready capsules.

    Kratom Extract

Kratom extract is kratom in concentrated form. To produce it, experts brew crushed or powdered leaves for a long period of time. After most of the water evaporates, a thick paste that contains a strong concentration of the primary kratom ingredients is left.

This paste can then be further made into a concentrated powder, oil, tincture, or resin.

Kratom extracts are usually graded by a digit followed by “x”, such as 1x, 10x, 15x, or other. That indicated how much kratom was used to produce 1 gram of concentrate. For example, 10x means that 10 grams of kratom were reduced to 1 gram of kratom extract.

    The Advantages of Kratom Extract

As kratom extract is a concentrated form of kratom, you can take smaller and more powerful doses. You’ll experience the same results as taking kratom in power for, yet you’ll require a much smaller amount to achieve the same result.

If you’re taking kratom extract in liquid form, your body will be able to absorb it faster. So, you’ll experience faster results.

You can also use kratom extracts such as tincture and oil topically. For instance, you can make kratom soap or add it to cosmetics, such as home-made body lotion.

    The Disadvantages of Kratom Extract

The process of making the kratom extract is lengthy and pricy, and it needs experts to do it. That results in a much higher price.

Some users report coming across extracts laced with opioids and other substances. Therefore, if you do choose to use kratom extract, make sure you purchase it from a trustworthy and credible vendor. Do not go for the first most affordable option online. Also, check the content of the extract before you purchase it and make sure it is pure alkaloid extract.

While reviews on this vary, there is a number of users who report having developed tolerance to kratom extract much quicker than to kratom powder.

The potency of the extract will depend not only on its concentration, but also on what strain it comes from. Because of this, it can be hard to measure the appropriate dose of kratom extract that you should take.

Because of this, kratom extract also poses a greater risk of overdose.

    Other Types of Kratom

Apart from the types mentioned above, you can also find crushed kratom leaves. While less popular than kratom powder, it is available through some vendors.

If kratom powder has the stems and veins removed, crushed kratom leaves contain all parts of the kratom leaf. Because of this, the alkaloid content is different and some report it being stronger than kratom powder.

The downside is you don’t have as many options, because you can only use to make tea. However, if you are a kratom tea lover, this may be the right type for you.

Which Is the Best Way to Take Kratom?

To be completely honest with you, our choice is kratom powder. It’s easily available, contains pure kratom only, and, once you get the hang of it, is rather easy to use.

Yet, that’s the best way to take kratom for us. The type that best suits your needs and preferences will completely depend on you.

Also, the type of kratom you choose is not as important as the vendor. Make sure you carefully select whom you purchase your kratom from. Choose someone who is trustworthy, reliable, and transparent about their sources, practices, and kratom testing.

Have you tried kratom capsules or extract? Or only kratom powder? What’s the best way to take kratom in your opinion? What experiences have you had? Are there any advantages or disadvantages that you’d like to add to our list?

  • Kratom Potentiators: How to Enhance Kratom Effects

Kratom Potentiators: How to Enhance Kratom Effects

When you purchase kratom, you are interested in receiving an effective and potent product. One that is definitely going to achieve your desired results.

In addition to making sure you purchase it from a reliable vendor whom you can trust, there are natural substances that can even further enhance the potency of your kratom.

These can make your dose stronger as well as help it last longer. Plus, these are healthy substances on their own. Therefore, you can reap additional health benefits.

Why Do You Need Kratom Potentiators?

Using kratom potentiators can mean that you can take a lower dosage, yet receive the same results. This way you will be less likely to develop kratom tolerance.

Your kratom batch will also last longer, which means that you’ll save money in the long run.

Kratom potentiators can make kratom last longer than usual and may also help it to kick in faster. You’ll be able to experience the results sooner and for a longer duration of time.e

If you are taking kratom daily and have already developed tolerance, you won’t need to increase your dose to potentiate kratom effects.

This will lower the chance of you experiencing kratom side effects because of increased dosage.

What Can Enhance the Potency and Length of Kratom Effects?

You’ll easily find many of these in your cupboard. Or by simply paying a visit to your local grocery or health food store.

Below are 10 kratom potentiators of our choice. We’ve also included our favorite picks for some of these potentiators in case you’re looking for suggestions.

    1. Hot Water

Using your kratom with hot water (which is simply making kratom tea) can increase its potency.

Note though that most plant-based alkaloids are heat sensitive. Therefore, avoid using boiling water.

Instead, you can mix kratom in hot water. Turn the heat off after the water boils, let the bubbles settle, and then pour it over your kratom.

Alternatively, you can let you kratom powder or leaves simmer. You can achieve it by turning down the heat after the water boils. There will still be bubbles, but they’ll be much smaller and there will be less of them.

    2. Citrus Fruits

Are you taking orange juice or grapefruit with your breakfast? Then we have great news for you.

Citric acid found in grapefruit, oranges, lemons, and lime is another kratom potentiator. It can make your kratom dose stronger and have kratom effects last longer. There are several ways in which you can take it.

Firstly, you can mix kratom powder with grapefruit or orange juice. You can also drink a glass of orange or grapefruit juice after you take kratom, for instance, if you prefer the Toss and Wash method. Or you can add a slice of lemon to your kratom tea.

In addition to the above, citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C. This can boost your immune system, prevent colds, and help your body absorb iron better.

    3. Tea

While some users prefer making kratom tea that only contains kratom (along with some sugar and lemon), others prefer mixing kratom with other teas.

There are a few different options for you and each has its own unique effects. These two are our favorite:

    • Chamomile Tea. It has a mild and pleasant taste and can help you to calm an upset stomach and relax. Use it in combination with the slow strains, such as red vein kratom, to achieve more relaxation and be able to get to sleep easier and faster. People who use chamomile tea as a kratom potentiator report feeling effects for a much longer period of time.  Check out our kratom and chamomile tea recipe.
    • Green Tea. A powerful antioxidant on its own, it can give your kratom dose an extra energy kick. It’ll work best with faster strains like green and white vein kratom. Make sure not to brew your green tea too strong as it tends to be rather bitter. Be sure to buy high-quality loose leaf tea. Same as kratom, not all green tea is the same. Avoid using tea bags as they primarily contain tea dust rather than actual leaves and therefore will result in the lowest quality of tea.

    4. Coffee

A number of users like mixing kratom with coffee to potentiate their dose. Coffee and kratom together can increase your focus and alertness and give you an extra energy boost.

You can brew them together or take them separately. Some users even Toss and Wash kratom with coffee. That depends on your personal preference. Make sure you drink plenty of water as both can dehydrate you.

Yet, we do not recommend everyone to do that, especially if you’re less experienced and taking lower doses of kratom. Kratom and coffee both come from the coffee family. You may become overly agitated and jittery.

Alternatively, you can take coffee as a kratom substitute on days that you’re not taking kratom.

    5. Valerian Root

It is a herb used for sleep issues, as well as managing stress and anxiety. A number of kratom users like to use it as a kratom potentiator.

Taken together with slow strains of kratom, it can enhance its relaxing, sedative, and pain killing effects.

You can take valerian root pills or tincture, as well as steep valerian root tea and mix it with your kratom dose.

    6. Watercress

An aquatic leafy green vegetable that grows near streams and streams, watercress is rich in vitamins and minerals. For instance, it contains more Vitamin C than oranges and more iron than spinach.

It can prevent colds and even some types of cancer. Watercress can also improve cardiovascular, eye, brain, and bone health among other benefits.

Some users report that taken as a kratom potentiator, it can make the effects last longer. For others, it also intensifies kratom effects.

Watercress is available in supermarkets, health food stores, and online. You can buy fresh watercress (that you can make a salad with), dried watercress, as well as watercress capsules.

    7. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper is a type of chili pepper that’s moderately strong and is used in spicy dishes. It has numerous benefits for the digestive system and can help to improve kratom absorption.

Users report feeling a faster come-up and more potent results from their kratom dose. Yet, it does not affect the duration of kratom as much as citrus fruits do.

You can mix some cayenne powder with kratom or take cayenne capsules. Use it sparingly if you can’t tolerate spicy foods well.

You may experience uncomfortable burning stools after taking larger amounts of cayenne. Eat fiber-rich foods and hydrate yourself well to avoid that.

    8. Turmeric

A plant of the ginger family, turmeric is a bright yellow spice and one of the main ingredients in curry. Turmeric also acts is a kratom potentiator.

Turmeric improves kratom absorption. It also enhances the strength and length of kratom effects and can help reduce kratom tolerance.

Mix turmeric powder with your kratom powder to boost its effects. Start by adding a small amount first and gradually increasing it up to a teaspoon with your dose.

Apart from potentiating kratom, turmeric has a number of other health benefits. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Turmeric can also improve cardiovascular and gastrointestinal health, reduces cholesterol, and can even help in preventing cancer.

To experience all those in addition to the kratom effects and benefits, add a pinch of black pepper to the mix. Black pepper increases the absorption of turmeric.

    9. Cat’s Claw

Cat’s Claw is a powerful herb with anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and pain-relieving benefits. It can also help with various gastrointestinal disorders.

Taking Cat’s Claw together with kratom can intensify and prolong its effects. Avoid taking it though if you’re on blood thinning medication or if you have a surgery scheduled in the next two weeks.

    10. Magnesium

Magnesium is a go-to kratom potentiator for many users. It can aid with kratom tolerance and relieve constipation that kratom causes.

Magnesium is a beneficial substance on its own. It’s excellent for managing diabetes, calcium absorption, and bone health. It also can help if you’re fatigued, relieve headaches, migraines, and anxiety.

Many people are magnesium deficient so supplementing your kratom dose with magnesium can be a great way to combat that.

However, you may want to avoid it if you suffer from diarrhea. It may also turn to be rather pricey if you take magnesium supplements.

Instead of taking magnesium pills, you can make a smoothie from magnesium-rich foods, for instance, leafy green vegetables, bananas, raspberries, figs, and avocados, and add kratom to it.

Taking regular Epsom salt baths is another way of exposing yourself to more magnesium.

    Conclusion

Just like kratom, all these are natural substances. Therefore, effects may slightly vary by person.

If you choose to take kratom potentiators, make sure you’ve taken kratom alone before it and know how exactly your body reacts to it. Don’t start by using both at the same time.

By doing so, you’ll have a better idea of what exactly what needs to be modified If you aren’t experiencing the desired results or not feeling well.

Make sure you check out the uses and side effects of each of the kratom potentiators to make sure you can take them. Talk to your physician if necessary.

Are you taking any of the kratom potentiators that we’ve mentioned above? Do you have any other tips on how to potentiate kratom? Please, share them with us. While more discoveries are made about kratom, there is yet much to find out.

Why Is Kratom Not Working and What Can You Do?

You may have purchased kratom with huge expectations but not felt the desired results. Or you’ve successfully used kratom for a while to one day find your kratom not working.

Depending on how fast your metabolism is and what strain you are taking, kratom effects usually kick in within 10 to 30 minutes. With some strains, you’ll experience come up within an hour.

If this time frame has passed, yet you feel nothing, you may be doing something wrong. Let’s go over some of the most common reasons for kratom not working and find out what’s causing it.

Reasons and Solutions for Kratom Not Working

You’re Not Taking the Right Dose

One of the most common reasons for kratom not working is taking the wrong dose. Many new users start with a low dose.

That’s not wrong, just the contrary. We actually recommend starting with a lower dose. That allows you to gauge how your body responds to kratom and avoid side effects.

As a natural substance, kratom interacts differently with individual bodies. Some people may need a higher dose while others will get the same effects with a lower one. And there’s no saying what will work for you until you actually try.

So, if you’ve taken kratom, but it’s not working, take a slightly larger dose more next time. Don’t drastically increase it though, but do so gradually. Even if you don’t feel any results after a few times.

Doing it this way, you’ll have an easier time finding the right dose for you without having kratom side effects.

Keep also in mind that the effects of kratom will depend on the dose that you are taking. In lower amounts, you’ll experience uplifting and euphoric effects, yet in higher doses, you’ll get sedative effects.

Also, make sure you are using a sensitive digital scale to measure your dose for the most optimal results.

    You’re Not Storing Kratom Properly

If you receive a bag from the vendor, open it, and leave it in the cupboard, that may be the reason why kratom’s not working for you. Not closing your kratom bag properly or opening it every day, exposes it to oxygen and likely also light.

These along with moisture are the main reasons for kratom losing its potency.

However, if you store kratom in airtight containers in a cool and dark place, then it’ll be more likely to retain its potency much longer.

You’re Not Responding to the Strain that You’re Using

While not very often, this may also be the reason for kratom not working. Not everyone responds to the same strains in the same way. We’ve even heard of cases when people do not respond to certain strains at all.

What you can do is try some of the most popular strains such as Red Bali or Green Maeng Da. Most users tend to not have any issues with them. Or you can order a few samples first and compare your results after using different strains.

You’re Taking Kratom on a Full Stomach

Kratom is a dried substance that takes time to digest. If you’ve just had a huge meal, your digestive system already has plenty to do.

Adding kratom to the mix means that it’ll need a lot more time to be properly digested and absorbed. As a result, you may feel weaker results or may not feel any at all.

To avoid that, some sources advise taking kratom on an empty stomach. We do not fully agree with that. While it may work for some, you have a high chance of irritating your stomach. Especially if you are not experienced with kratom.

Instead, we advise you to have some food in your stomach, much as a small meal or a snack and not take kratom right after it. Wait for 30 minutes or an hour.

This way, your stomach won’t be completely empty, but also not stuffed full. Therefore, you’ll have a lower chance of upsetting your stomach, experiencing kratom side effects, or kratom not working.

    You’ve Developed Kratom Tolerance

If you are a regular user, kratom may not be working because you’ve developed tolerance to it. That can happen if your body gets used to kratom.

It can happen with any substance. For instance, one can develop tolerance to perfume or cologne if they use it every day and not sense it anymore.

As a result, the same amount of kratom won’t be enough anymore and you’ll need a higher dose to experience the same effects.

Kratom tolerance can develop for a number of reasons:

    • you’ve used the same strain for a long time,
    • you use kratom every day,
    • you have a kratom buildup in your system.

Increasing your kratom dose may seem like the easiest thing to do, but it requires more kratom and a larger investment from you.

Kratom alkaloids take an average of 24 hours to leave the human body. So, if you take kratom at a relatively same time, there still may be some self in your system from your previous dose.

There is an easy way to troubleshoot that though. You can take a break from kratom for a few days, not use it every day, and rotate strains to prevent buildup from happening.

You’re Taking Kratom with Other Substances

There is a possibility that other substances that you are taking neutralize the effects of kratom.  This can happen if you take alcohol or prescription medicine along with kratom.

It’s best to avoid taking kratom and alcohol together. In the case of medicine, we advise you to consult your doctor and inquire about the possibility of it interfering with kratom.

You’ve Purchased Low-Quality or Fake Kratom

If you’ve tried changing things up, but nothing’s worked, chances are that’s not you, but the kratom you’re taking.

Much of the kratom on the market is low quality or not very fresh. That would mean that when you buy it, it’s already passed its prime. Some may even be fake, mixed with other substances, or even contaminated.

For instance, those who travel in India and purchase kratom there aren’t getting the real thing. Labeled as Indian Kratom, it’s a plant from the same family, but it’s not the real Mitrogyna Speciosa that you’d purchase from a trusted vendor. Its effects are either weak or nonexistent, and it may even make some sick.

If you aren’t traveling, but ordering online from your home in the US, make sure you choose a vendor who sells high-quality products.

Some buyers go for vendors with lower prices, but are getting what they pay for. The kratom that they receive isn’t as good as it could be.

As a matter of fact, our favorite vendor actually has higher prices than others on the market. However, we need to take only half of the product that we would have to if we were using the cheaper kratom.

So, on the surface, it seems like we’re paying more, but we’re actually using a much more potent product and the same amount lasts us a lot longer.

  • Military Kratom: Can You Take Kratom in the Military

Military Kratom: Can You Take Kratom in the Military

US military members are well-known for their extraordinary abilities, strength, endurance, and capacity to go through rigorous training and extreme and life-changing experiences. As a result, many veterans suffer from handling pain, PTSD, anxiety, depression, sleep, and other health issues.

Therefore, it’s not uncommon for veterans to take kratom. The herb has many health benefits and can aid veterans in a wide variety of ways.

But what about active-duty members? There are many ways in which they could benefit from the herb. But can you take kratom in the military?

Can You Take Kratom in the Military?

Unfortunately, kratom is illegal to active duty military members in the United States. The Department of Defense (DoD) prohibits a wide range of substances that could negatively impact military readiness and performance and lead to possible disciplinary action.

The DoD based its reasoning for banning kratom in the military on the statements made by the FDA. It explains the reasons for prohibiting the herb as being the lack of evidence of safe use and deadly risks resulting from its use.

The military allows certain legal substances. These include prescription drugs, alcohol, and nicotine, provided that they are taken adequately and properly. However, the list of illegal substances is long. It includes actual drugs such as cocaine, LSD, heroin, and more, as well as other substances like steroids and smart drugs.

    What Are Smart Drugs?

Smart drugs are a wide range of substances that have nootropic properties and can enhance cognition. This includes mediation. An example of such a smart drug includes Adderall, a common ADHD medication. It’s legal as long as the military member has a valid doctor’s prescription. Otherwise, it is off-limits.

Another class is so-called herbal smart drugs. Examples include cat’s claw, ashwagandha, L-theanine, green tea, piperine, Panax ginseng, and also kratom.

While most of those herbal smart drugs are OK in the military, kratom is an exception. The military prohibits it because, according to its words, it alters mood and function.

What Else Does the Military Forbid?

Kratom in the military isn’t an odd exception. In addition to the herb and substances that are already illegal in the US, the military also forbids the following substances and dietary supplements:

    • Acacia rigidula, also known as blackbrush acacia or chaparro prieto – a dietary supplement that aids weight loss is illegal in the military due to the lack of evidence for safe use,
    • Aconite or wolfsbane – homeopathic medicine that can also be poisonous,
    • Cannabidiol or CBD – used for anxiety, stress, inflammation, and pain relief, illegal due to service policies,
    • Hemp or hemp oil – used for stress and pain relief, illegal due to a DoD policy,
    • Phenibut – a supplement used for anxiety and stress relief, illegal because it’s a synthetic substance that does not meet the standards of a dietary supplement,
    • Salvia – a supplement that produces relaxing effects in small doses and hallucinogenic effects in large doses, also illegal in the military.

Besides these supplements, the military also forbids a long list of synthetic dietary supplements. These include HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin), HGH (Human growth hormone), IGF (Insulin-like growth factor), and others.

Does the Military Test for Kratom?

Kratom is an illegal substance in the military and on the DoD forbidden substances list. So, active duty military members can be subject to illegal substance screening. Kratom, however, is unlikely to come up in a routine DoD drug test because most standard tests such as SAHMSA-5 do not test for it.

Nonetheless, it’s not a guarantee that you won’t be tested for kratom in the military. Changes are continuously happening.

In 2017, the DoD announced that it will be expanding its testing to detect 26 illegal substances that active-duty members are tested for in military applicants as well, making substance screening more rigorous. The list included drugs such as cocaine and heroin as well as a range of synthetic cannabinoids or spice.

While kratom wasn’t mentioned in the list, certain military members have reported that their divisions have started testing for kratom, as well.

Therefore, it’s best to abstain from taking kratom in the military. Even if your unit does not currently test for kratom, this can change at any time. This can put you at unnecessary risk if you take the herb while on deployment.

Active duty members are subject to drug testing three times a year and this occurs at random. Kratom alkaloids remain in the system and can come up on a urine drug test for up to 7-9 days. With this in mind, you cannot prepare for a kratom drug test.

And even if kratom isn’t among substances a drug test screens for, there have been instances of it resulting in a false positive. This can be an unnecessary and highly damaging risk for active-duty members.

    Is Kratom Safe?

The DoD bases its judgment of kratom on statements by the FDA. Thus, it should come as a surprise that the military questions its safety. It mentions the side effects of kratom, including death, and the risk of it being laced with other substances like opioids.

The DoD also claims that kratom is addictive while its 8-Factor Analysis states the opposite, saying that kratom is no more addictive than coffee, a plat from the same plant family as kratom that is legal in the military.

Contrary to the FDA claims, the safety concerns regarding kratom use are exaggerated. Kratom deaths that it cites as proof of its deadly effects are misinformation. None of the “kratom deaths” had conclusive results and other substances with deadly effects were present.

    Final Words

While kratom is prohibited to active duty military members, it’s legal in most states when one is out of the military and no longer serving. Kratom has numerous benefits that can help veterans lead better lives.

Regardless of that, it is important to always get high-quality raw kratom products from a trusted vendor.

While most claims by the FDA and DoD are untrue about kratom, one thing however is possible. That’s the fact that kratom can be contaminated or adulterated by other dangerous substances. To avoid that, one should always purchase kratom that has been accurately and properly tested, processed, handled, and labeled, preferably from US states with an active Kratom Consumer Protection Act.

Are you an active-duty military member or a veteran? Have you ever tried kratom? And most importantly, thank you for your service.
